Mesa Canyon Community Partners Principals

Paul Barnes is president of the San Diego division of Shea Homes, a family-owned builder that shares a personal commitment to creating places where people in all phases of life can call home. Over his 30+ year career, Paul has been instrumental in the thoughtful planning and placemaking for communities across San Diego. He also helps local families realize their dream of homeownership as a board member for Habitat for Humanity.

When not in the office, Paul can most likely be found on a surf board.

Bill Ostrem is president of the San Diego division of Lennar Homes, one of the premier homebuilders in the country. For decades, Bill has been at the helm of creating some of San Diego’s most notable communities, including Del Sur in northern San Diego, and the 3,200-acre community of Eastlake in Chula Vista. He is also active in numerous industry, community and service organizations, championing causes like health, economic development and education.

On his time off, Bill is enjoying being a first-time grandpa.

Robby Thorne is principal and CEO at California West Communities. Since 1983, Robby has been instrumental in the creation of approximately 4,000 homes in more than 75 communities in Southern California. Robby and the CalWest team build with a level of depth and personal commitment that spans generations with a focus on sustainability, quality and craftsmanship. CalWest is known in San Diego County for supporting local nonprofit organizations providing education, youth sports and community programming.

Personally, Robby is best known for being the ultimate grill-master and an all-star grandpa to his five grandkids.
